DESIGNmd ("DESIGNmd", "we", "us") is an open platform for discovering, sharing, and downloading DESIGN.md files. This policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information.

2. Information We Collect

Account information: When you sign in with GitHub, we receive your GitHub username, display name, email address, and profile photo. We do not access your repositories or private data.

Content you upload: Design system files (DESIGN.md), kit metadata (name, description, tags, license), and avatar images you choose to upload.

Usage data: We collect basic analytics such as page views, download counts, and like counts. We do not use third-party tracking scripts or advertising networks.

Technical data: Server logs may include your IP address, browser type, and referring page. These are retained for security and debugging purposes and are automatically purged after 30 days.

3. How We Use Your Information

  • To provide and operate the DESIGNmd platform
  • To display your public profile and uploaded kits
  • To enable search, discovery, and download of design systems
  • To communicate important service updates (e.g., security notices)
  • To detect and prevent abuse, spam, or violations of our terms

4. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We do not share your data with third parties for marketing purposes. Your data may be shared only in these cases:

  • Infrastructure providers: We use Cloudflare for hosting, storage, and CDN. Your data is processed on Cloudflare's infrastructure in accordance with their privacy practices.
  • Public content: Kits you publish, your username, display name, and avatar are publicly visible by design.
  • Legal requirements: We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the safety of our users.

5. Cookies & Local Storage

We use essential cookies for authentication (session management). We use browser local storage for theme preferences. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.

6. Your Rights (GDPR & Global Privacy)

Regardless of where you are located, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Correct inaccurate information via your Settings page
  • Delete your account and all associated data (Settings > Danger Zone)
  • Export your data by downloading your uploaded kits
  • Object to processing of your data for any purpose beyond core service operation

7. Data Retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, all personal data, uploaded kits, likes, and collections are permanently removed within 30 days. Server logs are automatically purged after 30 days.

8. Security

We use industry-standard security measures including encrypted connections (HTTPS), hashed API keys, and secure session management. Content is scanned for safety before publication. While no system is perfectly secure, we take reasonable steps to protect your data.

9. Children

DESIGNmd is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via a notice on the site. Continued use of DESIGNmd after changes constitutes acceptance.
